Dhanush’s unique style shines through once again. Balancing acting with directing, he often takes the lead in the films he helms. His latest venture, Idli Kottu (Idly Kadai in Tamil), sees him both directing and starring alongside a stellar cast including Nithya Menen, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, and Shalini Pandey. Produced by Dhanush and Akash Bhaskaran under Wunderbar Films and Zee Studios, the film is set for a theatrical release on October 1, 2025. The Tamil and Telugu trailers were recently unveiled, sparking excitement among fans.

Trailer and Story Insights: Based on the trailer, Idli Kottu follows Murali (Dhanush), a young man who’s reluctant to work at his father’s (Rajkiran) modest idli shop in their village. Instead, Murali lands a high-profile job at AFC, a big restaurant in the city. The restaurant owner’s son, Ashwin (Arun Vijay), is a reckless boxer-in-training who seems to lack responsibility. In a pivotal moment, Ashwin humiliates Murali, possibly triggering a turning point. Disheartened, Murali returns to his village and takes up his father’s idli shop business. Surprisingly, Ashwin shows up at the village, searching for Murali’s shop—but why? That remains a mystery to be revealed in the film. Shalini Pandey’s role is kept intriguingly vague in the trailer, possibly as Murali’s sister or Ashwin’s love interest, adding an element of suspense.The trailer feels somewhat conventional but stands out with its fresh visuals and Dhanush’s distinct storytelling approach. It weaves in family emotions and village life, promising a blend of heartfelt drama and conflict. GV Prakash Kumar’s music adds soul to the trailer, enhancing its emotional pull, while the rustic cinematography captures the charm of rural settings.
