Peddi is a multi-sports drama directed by Uppena fame Buchi Babu Sana, with Ram Charan in the lead. In the film, Ram Charan plays the role of a “sports labourer”—a man who plays various sports for money, according to the storyline. The movie features sports like wrestling, kho-kho, cricket, and more. His character is someone who participates in a sport, earns wages, and moves on to the next—hence the term “coolie” (daily wage worker) applies to his role. It is said that the story prominently revolves around cricket and wrestling.
The film’s first half is expected to focus on different sports backdrops, while the second half is likely to be a flashback with strong wrestling themes. There’s also talk that Peddi is a period multi-sports drama in which RamCharan will be playing a dual role—as brothers.
The shooting of Peddi is currently progressing at a brisk pace. Key scenes have already been shot in Hyderabad and Mysore. A major shooting schedule is planned in Delhi soon. Ram Charan is undergoing his transformation specifically for this upcoming schedule.
In Peddi, Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, while Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu, and JagapathiBabu will appear in key roles. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the banners of Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers. A.R. Rahman composing the music for the film is another highlight. The makers are planning to release Peddi on March 26, coinciding with Ram Charan’s birthday.
Following Peddi, Ram Charan is set to collaborate with director Sukumar again. He is also currently listening to scripts for his future projects.
