Story After completing his studies, Shiva (Santosh Sobhan) doesn’t get a job, and his family keeps scolding him. On the other hand, Mitra (Manasa Varanasi) faces constant pressure from her family about marriage alliances. However, Mitra’s goal is to land a software job. To find employment, Shiva moves to Chennai. Mitra also comes to Chennai to pursue an IT job and to avoid marriage if she succeeds. To make ends meet, Shiva drives a bike taxi and car taxi (couple-friendly movie review).
In one situation, Shiva meets Mitra. Due to some reasons, Mitra has to vacate her hostel suddenly and finds no shelter. In unavoidable circumstances, Mitra ends up staying in Shiva’s room. Gradually, they grow closer mentally and physically. They start leading life as if in a live-in relationship. With Mitra’s encouragement, Shiva lands a job as an interior designer. But Mitra doesn’t get an IT job. In one situation, Shiva speaks in a way that suggests Mitra won’t get a job, and Mitra claims that Shiva got his job because of her. This leads to an argument, and they break up. What happens next? Does their relationship reach marriage? What do their family members do? What becomes of Shiva and Mitra’s lives? Analysis Today’s Gen Z youth are following concepts like co-living, live-in together, and living relationships quite well in their culture. The director chose a story fitting for this generation. Unlike routine love stories where the girl gets a job first, changes her behavior, and distances herself from the boy, the director thought differently—here the boy gets the job with the girl’s support—and that’s when he achieved half success. He succeeded in execution too. He presented the love story of a girl and boy from different backgrounds in a way that suits the tastes of today’s youth.
The establishment of hero and heroine characters, their arrival in Chennai for jobs, and the first half with living relationship flows somewhat fun and romantically. The interval comes with their fight. In the second half, family members come to Chennai, Mitra doesn’t get a job, so her family speeds up marriage alliances… such scenes continue, and the film ends with an emotional climax. It might feel somewhat surprising to Telugu audiences.
The Tamil director Ashwin directed this film. It was shot entirely in Chennai locations. The Telugu people’s love story happens in Chennai. The film’s runtime is only two hours. But there are four-five dragging scenes. In some places, the romantic dose might feel like it crosses the border for family audiences. Overall, today’s youth will like this ‘Couple Friendly’. However, how Telugu audiences take the climax remains to be seen.
Cast & Technical Team Santosh Sobhan impresses in the role of Shiva (Couple Friendly Hero Santhosh). He has improved as an actor. His performance in emotional scenes is good. This film will be very useful for Santosh’s career as an actor. Manasa Varanasi’s role as Mitra is no less (Couple Friendly heroine Manasa). She played a strong role in this film. She looks cute and also rocks in emotional scenes. Rajeev Kanakala leaves his mark once again with his acting in the heroine’s father role. Goparaju Ramana matches him as the hero’s father. Yogi Babu appears as the heroine’s friend and handles comedy responsibility. Actors like Livingston and Sreeranjani performed according to their roles (Couple Friendly cast and crew Review).
The director blended the unemployment concept in many youths’ lives with a love angle and wrote a good story. He wrote good screenplay too. He touched on parental pressures, youth struggles… and gave a routine message. But he succeeded in it. Visuals and music are good. Shooting in real Chennai locations with guerrilla style brought a reality feel to the film. The runtime is two hours. So, editing was done as much as possible. Production values suit the range of the actors.

For those wanting to watch a nice emotional love story, Couple Friendly is a good choice for this Valentine’s Day. It also has a small message (if taken). But there are some romantic scenes in this film. Though not over the board, family audiences might feel a bit uncomfortable.
